If you policy has Named Hazard, be sure you are comfortable with the limitations.

The second part of your policy is P & I. This coverage pays for your defense in the case you or your boat causes injury or damage to another boat or boater. It also pays for damage that your boat causes by such things as fire spreading from your boat to another or colliding with another vessel. The primary purpose of P & I coverage is to personally protect your assets from law suits. It is important to get this included in your boat insurance quote, since the likelyhood of this occurring is high probable in any accident that might occur.

The BOAT INSURANCE WARRANTY.

You will be usually signing an application which is the warranty. Your truthfulness about your boating experience, the boats condition, safety equipment on board and other information is important in not only getting an accurate quote, but protecting you in the event that an accident occurs. Leaving off critical information can void the warranty and leave you without a policy.

You are required to file an accident report with the coast guard should accidents result in injury or death and or the damage to total vehicles exceed $500.
