“VINTAGE DREAM” is the most popular model by Sea Ray offers attractive styling and a superb entertainment platform with comfort and cruising versatility large enough to accommodate family and friends. This 340 is in excellent condition and available at a per cent of the cost of a new 350. “VINITAGE DREAM” is as ever popular Sea Ray model is as clean as they come, and is an excellent example of a Lift Kept boat with only 250 hrs as well gen-set has only 85 hours. The expansive layout accommodates a group of people in the cockpit, while below, it offers luxurious and sensible seating. Two separate sleeping quarters provide privacy for all, while the dinette will convert to accommodate extra overnight guests. Two refrigerators for all of the necessities, this boat is fully equipped including air/heat, generator, windlass, chart plotter and radar. If you're serious about getting out and using your boat, a smaller one is more maneuverable, uses a lot less fuel, may be easier to get through locks, down rivers and channels, and into the nooks and crannies that are really fun to explore. And, you can more easily get transient accommodation for a 34 footer.

BROKERS REMARKS: “VINTAGE DREAM” is a lift kept one owner, low houred with all the bells and whistles. Super clean interior with zero issues, exterior is waxed and cleaned regularly. Engine room is tidy and maintained.
Time is the only factor with this retired couple. Taking the boat out now is more than they would like to handle. So when they decided they were not using as much as they should they decided to sell. That is a good reason; the boat has been loved by both the owners. This one needs to be on your short list, it is worth seeing.

Accomodations

  • AS REPORTED BY BOAT TEST
  • Stepping on board the 340 the first time, the 12 foot beam is immediately apparent; you notice the width and size of the aft swim platform, the expanse of transom with its internal storage bin for shore power, life jackets and fenders, and on our test boat, a port side transom gate.
  • Engine access is easy with an electric lift system tilting a large area of the cockpit sole to open up to the vee drives for easy servicing. Other exterior features worthy of note include well placed handrails, diamond pattern nonskid on the side decks, A electric windlass and steps moulded in to the cockpit sides for easy entry.
  • The cockpit is where most owners will spend their time. Our test boat was equipped with a wraparound aft bench seat on the starboard side. There are substantial storage areas underneath the seat cushions and a removable table for al fresco dining. On the port side is a refreshment centre with a sink, refrigerator, pressure water and also a removable cooler. The cockpit enjoys snap-in carpeting for easy wash down and the standard equipment radar arch provides a handy location for mounting stereo speakers, interior lights, navigation electronics and also the Bimini top in champagne colored Sunberella.
  • Sea Ray has provided the 340 Sundancer with an unmistakably “big boat” helm. Finished in a deep beige color to reduce glare from the sun, our test boat was arranged with binnacle mounted controls, a very handsome wood trimmed, tilting steering wheel and a two tiered layout for instruments and electronics. On top of the dash is a large compass and up near the driver's line of sight, is a row of analog gauges for fuel and engine functions. The next tier down, closer to the driver, has panels for switches, the instruments and the array of electronics including the standard VHF radio.
  • Seating at the helm and companion positions is with three bucket seats; all with flip-up bolsters for standing operation. The only thing we found lacking was a footrest for the driver. Many people seem to prefer driving this boat standing up anyway, and it's easy to see why. When standing, the view is unobstructed in all directions and it's easier to read the water and drive a smooth course from this vantage point. You'll want to pick a smooth course because this is one very quick express cruiser. Our test boat was equipped with the MerCruiser 6.2 Horizon engines swinging 14" x 21" four blade Nibral props.
  • Our test boat was solidly played off at 3,000 rpm travelling 23 mph on GPS and by kicking it up to 3,400 we hit what we felt was probably the optimum cruising speed of 24 mph. Shoving the throttles to the wall pushed the Sundancer to 4,800 rpm at 38 mph. Even at that speed, the boat felt very solid and the 21° deadrise vee hull design soaked up the waves in an impressive fashion. Perhaps most impressive was the "sport boat” handling.
  • At wide open speeds, the big vee drive engines maintained their grip, even when we hauled the wheel hard over to ram the Sundancer through a tight turn. Steering was light and precise. Back at dockside, we found the boat handled easily, even without the help of the available bow thruster. engines far aft to leave as much of the cabin area clear for accommodation, as possible. Entering the salon, you go down four steps which are finished in a very “grippy” plastic surface making it safer to go below when you're underway. The stairs are a floating design for increased light and ventilation in the aft cabin. You can make the aft cabin up as a berth or just use it as a cozy den. It has a clever flipdown entertainment system, port and starboard lockers and also storage under the berth cushions. There's a porthole opening to the cockpit and the area can be curtained off for privacy, if family or guests are sleeping aboard.
  • On the port side of the companionway stairs is the head. It's certainly usable and can be curtained off to use the shower, has a porthole and good height but, it's perhaps the one part of the boat that is average for a 34 footer. In so many other respects, the 340 Sundancer delivers more space than you would expect throughout the salon and in the forward cabin.
  • Forward, is the galley, featuring Corian countertops, a single sink moulded into the countertop, a combination microwave and coffee maker, Kenyon two burner stove with a ceramic top, a below-counter refridgerator / freezer combination, plus four drawers, four lockers and a big stainless steel handrail for added safety. We liked the big provision locker, the trash container and also the storage slot for removable tabletops. Another good feature on our test boat was the teak flooring in the galley area, making spills easier to clean up.
  • On the starboard side of the salon is a high / low table with a comfortable settee. This has storage underneath and there is abundant storage in cherry
  • wood finished side lockers. Our test boat had a television in the salon, curtained portholes, indirect lighting and a host of thoughtful convenience features.
  • The forward cabin features has a shaped queen size berth, large storage lockers up both sides, a mirror in the forepeak and a large overhead escape
  • hatch. Compared to larger Sundancer models, you can't walk as far up the side of the bed and you may give up a little storage space but, once you're
  • snuggled in for the night, this feels pretty good.
