The Robert Harris designed Vancouver 36 is a no compromise “ocean capable” cruiser perfectly suited for modern cruising couples. This vessel is designed and rigged for sailors who want to cross oceans and travel the world, or cruise the Caribbean, or just explore the Bay.
Built by Durbeck in Florida, the construction is solid fiberglass (not cored) with lead ballast encased in the full keel with a large skeg hung rudder. A stout cutter rig, and a surprisingly high sail area to displacement ratio makes SV Promise a fast sailor on those long ocean passages. With head room of 6'4", a great galley, generous berths and plenty of storage, the Vancouver 36 is a good choice for elegant and comfortable cruising. S/V Promise has been well cared for and upgraded appropriately. For example, awlgriped topsides in 2004. Full electronics, ground tackle and sail inventory are aboard.
