“New Prospect” was built as a ferry but recently has been operated as a Coast Guard documented fishing vessel .However, she can easily be recertified to her CG inspected ferry status and as such she would be certified to carry 12 cars and 98 passengers. She has fully redundant twin station steering and an auxiliary engine to provide back-up for water pumping, electrical power as well as hydraulic pressure for steering and the crane. The hydraulic extension boom crane was mounted on deck in 2006. She was hauled in late 2006 and her bottom was cleaned and inspected. She also received new zincs and bottom paint. Her engine room has recently been painted and she was surveyed in July 2006.
