What we have for sale is a 1960 Brownell Bass Boat. If your search has brought you here you either know this style boat or are curious about what it may be. The history dates back to 1957 when the noted New England design firm of Eldredge-McInnis drew the lines for a 26' bass boat to be built by Brownell Boat Works of Mattapoisett, MA. There are bass boats and then there are bass boats. We are talking about a class of boats that evolved to meet the needs of fisherman who fished for striped bass along the shores from New Jersey through New England. Because the boat is such a stable fishing platform and handles short choppy sea conditions well, in more recent years, it has become a favorite of rockfish (striped bass) fishermen on the Chesapeake Bay.
This particular Bass Boat is a 24-foot, open cockpit, cuddy cabin, Brownell Bass Boat. Built of cedar and mahogany on white oak frames she has served well for almost 50 years and with proper care will give many more years of service. Forward is a cuddy cabin with v-berth with new cushions. The cockpit is large with starboard helm, jump seats on both sides, bimini top on stainless steel frame, and at the stern a tiller and transom mounted controls. Instrumentation includes: Furuno radar with custom mounted fold-down mast, Navman chart plotter / depth sounder / sonar, along with a full set of gauges. The engine has be upgraded with a 1987 Graymarine 258 inline 6 cylinder gasoline engine that consumes 6 gallons per hour at 14 knots. Made for the fisherman this classic is ready to fish. Call now to schedule a showing of this Brownell Bass Boat. Engine SpecificationsModel: 258-6 cyl
