Every surfer's dream boat!

In Santa Barbara, California two surfers set out to make rugged, dependable, lasting powerboats for commercial fisherman, and so Anderson Custom Boats was born. Santa Barbara surfers, Bill Anderson and Charlie Alexander, started Anderson Custom Boats in 1980. In the 1980’s and 1990’s Bill Anderson collaborated with another well-known surfer, named George Greenough on select custom boats. In general, the Anderson Boats were designed to meet the needs of the new booming Sea Urchin fishery: able to carry over 5,000 pounds of product at speeds of 20 knots and over! Boat owners who surf have appreciated having a boat built by one… and, in this case, two of their own.

Building this ultra-seaworthy vessel began in 1992 in the Anderson Custom Boat Yard in Santa Barbara, California. The boat was first launched in 1995, and the equipment is 1995 or newer. Many of the design features and the quality of construction are quite typical of Anderson’s boats. That is, the boat is very suitable for commercial or hardcore sport applications. Additionally, the George Greenough bow design includes an extra lip around the deck area that makes for a very dry ride. This 21 x 8 Custom Anderson Greenough is nothing less than the ultimate and the classic surfer’s boat. Check it out!

Accommodations: Overnight accommodations are provided for two people in two side-by-side bunks or one large V-berth. The cabin includes forward cuddy cabin followed by California-style semi-enclosed pilothouse. The cuddy cabin is equipped with sunlight opening hatch, two windows, vinyl covered cushions, fabric headliner, two 12-volt light fixtures, three cubby shelves, access to electrical panel, two under-berth watertight storage compartments, and lockable companionway door leading aft to pilothouse. The semi-enclosed pilothouse is equipped with five windows, full instrumentation helm, two new in 2007 Todd swivel seats, two under-seat storage compartments, stainless steel captain’s footrest, anti-fatigue mats, large stainless steel grab rail, 12-volt light fixture, and open access aft to working cockpit. The Todd swivel seats, seat platforms, storage compartments, and captain’s footrest are recent additions professionally designed and built by Anderson Custom Boats.

Water system includes both automatic and manual bilge pumps.

Hull and Deck Gear: The hull design is modified vee, suitable for West Coast sea conditions, and enables the boat to stay on a plane and maintain a high speed in both forward sea and following sea conditions. This is the notable design of choice among commercial fisherman from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. Construction is hand-laid fiberglass hull, hand-laid fiberglass decks, and non-skid deck surfacing. Deck layout includes deck at bow, narrow walk around side decks, large working cockpit, raised aft deck over engine compartment, and aft deck walk around aisles to transom. Hull and deck features include rubber rub rail, two stainless steel foredeck grab bars, four stainless steel deck cleats, radar mast, four stainless steel grab rails over cabin top, two halogen deck lights, wash down decks, four scuppers, raised gunwales, spare ground tackle, saltwater hot water return (great for prepping wetsuits), and two new stainless steel aft deck rails (designed/installed by Bill Anderson). Anchor gear includes anchor, chain, rode, stainless steel bow roller, stainless steel t-bar tie down, and anchor locker. Safety gear includes fire extinguisher, first aid kit, docking line, and fender. Canvas inventory includes pilothouse backdrop enclosure with two eisenglass windows. Fishing and sports gear includes swim platform, in-deck fishhold, davit, hand-crank davit pulley, davit receiver built-in deck, four flush mount stainless steel rod holders, and nine stainless steel rocket launchers.
