For over thirty-one years, Radon has been the benchmark by which all commercial diving, fishing, and hardcore sport boats are measured. From Alaska to Mexico and throughout the Hawaiian Islands, Radon boats have proven themselves to be the boat of choice for serious fishing and diving.

This 36 x 11 Custom Commercial Fisherman was built by Radon in Santa Barbara, California from the original thirty-six foot mold. The heavier built Radons such as this are desirable for their seaworthiness and ability to surf downhill. The boat carries USCG Certificate of Documentation with fishery, coastwise, and recreational endorsements. Also included is California DFG Commercial Vessel Registration good through March 31. Though suitable for a variety of commercial and sports applications, MARYSOL is a turnkey boat for commercial or sport diving. The air dive system can be used to fill tanks or to supply air to hookah divers. Divers also have the luxury of hot/cold pressure water shower on deck as well as private shower in the cabin. The boat would be quite suitable as a six-pak charter boat. Whatever you aspire to do, MARYSOL is one tough boat that will take you safely and comfortably to your destination.

Accommodations: Overnight accommodations are provided for four passengers in three berths. Interior headroom throughout the cabin areas is at least 6’ 1”. Cabin areas include forward cabin, pilothouse, and enclosed berth under the pilothouse. The forward cabin layout includes forward double berth, portside single berth, starboard galley, and starboard enclosed head. The head is equipped with shower, hot/cold pressure water, drainable floor, shower curtain, two stainless steel towel racks, marine toilet, toilet paper holder, and privacy door. Other forward cabin features include two windows, curtains, overhead sunlight/escape hatch, canvas covered berth cushions, television stand, under-berth stowage compartments, carpeted sole, headliner, coat hook, 12-volt light fixtures, 110-volt outlets, and two companionway steps up to pilothouse. The pilothouse is equipped with portside cushioned captain’s seat, full-instrumentation helm, starboard cushioned first mate’s seat, two footrests, eight windows, two accessory shelves, 12-volt light fixtures, under-pilothouse compartment, and lockable companionway door. The under-pilothouse compartment has a single berth, berth cushion, volume tank (for hookah air system), storage space for safety gear, and fiberglass access hatch.

Galley Equipment: The galley is equipped with double stainless steel sink, hot/cold pressure water, 12-volt AC/110-volt DC refrigerator/freezer, two-burner propane stove, three under-counter pantry shelves, over-counter storage shelf, and fan.

Electronic and Navigational Gear: The helm is equipped with two key-start ignitions, stainless steel steering wheel, dual Volvo-Penta throttle sets, dash mounted gauges, and dash mounted electronics. Electronic and navigational gear includes Raymarine C-80 multifunction monitor (direct sunlight viewable 256 color display), Raymarine C-series GPS/chartplotter, West Coast map chip, Raymarine C-series digital fishfinder/echo sounder, Raymarine C-series Pathfinder 24-mile radar with closed array dome, Kenwood TKM-407 VHF marine radio, Ritchie 4” magnesium compass, portable compass, older AM/FM/cassette stereo (needs replacement), two stereo speakers (speakers are still good), Zenith 12-volt DC/110-volt AC television with built-in VCR, and USCG standard running lights.

Electrical/Gas/Plumbing: The boat is equipped with both 12-volt DC and 110-volt AC electrical systems. Electrical features include four batteries, shore power inlet, ship-to-shore power cord, electrical panel located in forward cabin companionway, and battery isolator switch located in engine compartment.

The propane gas system includes propane bottle located on cabin top and plumbed to galley stove and on-demand water heater.

Water systems include 100-gallon aluminum freshwater tank, 40-gallon aluminum holding tank, hot/cold pressure water to galley/head/deck shower, fish hold pump, and three automatic/manual bilge pumps.

Hull and Deck Gear: The hull design is modified vee with hard chine, suitable for West Coast sea conditions, and enables the boat to stay on a plane and maintain a high speed in both forward sea and following sea conditions. This is the notable design of choice among commercial fisherman from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. Construction materials includes hand-laid fiberglass over moulded fiberglass and marine plywood framing, fiberglass stringers, wood and fiberglass bulkheads, hand-laid fiberglass transom (two outdrives bolted through), hand-laid fiberglass over marine plywood decking, and non-skid deck surfacing. Deck layout includes deck at bow, foredeck over forward cabin, narrow walkaround side decks, working cockpit, and aft deck over engine compartment. Hull and deck gear includes rubber rub rail, forward deck toe rail, port/starboard side deck rails, two stainless steel foredeck grab bars, surfboard rack/commercial mast/propane tank mount over cabin top, stainless steel cockpit grab bar, and aft deck rail. Anchor gear includes 15 kW Bruce anchor, chain, rode, stainless steel bow roller, Kinematics hydraulic anchor winch, and commercial chain spooler. Safety gear includes ten PFD’s, three fire extinguishers, flare kit, first aid kit, docking line, fenders, and two survival suits. Fishing and sports gear includes cockpit shower spigot with hot/cold pressure water, port/starboard diamond plate aluminum hull protectors (for pulling gear), 600-lb. capacity davit (mast and boom) with hydraulic rigging, 4,000-lb. capacity in-deck fish hold, four stainless steel rail mounted rod holders, and air dive system. The air dive system includes 13 HP Mitsubishi motor (runs boat’s dive compressor and hydraulics), dive compressor, and volume tank. The system functions with high pressure output for filling dive tanks or with low pressure output for supplying air to hookah divers.

Equipment/Engine Details:

Engine Details: Power package includes two 2006 315 HP Volvo Penta D-6 diesel I/O engines with 700 hours. The boat efficiently cruises at 20-22 knots and reaches maximum speed of 32 knots. Other engine features include two fiberglass diesel tanks with total 400-gallon capacity, two 2006 Volvo Penta outdrives, two stainless steel Volvo Duo props, and freshwater cooling system.

One of the safety features of the Radon design is the sealed engine compartment that houses the stern-drive power package. Other engine compartment features include large engine hatch with gel-coat and non-skid surface, three stainless steel air vents, stainless steel handle, and port/starboard shelving for batteries.

Remarks: MARYSOL is a commercial dive boat, owned and operated by one of the few elite California urchin divers. The owner loves this boat, but he is scaling down to a smaller boat. Here is the perfect Radon: one equipped with an efficient late-model engine package, modern electronics, and creature comforts. No more roughing it!
