One Superior Boat!

Radons and Andersons have been popular amongst commercial divers, fishermen, and surfers traveling in the not-so-predictable waters of the Pacific. These designs are so desirable here on the Pacific Coast where the boats need to be capable of traveling well in both uphill and downhill surf. The boats are capable of carrying heavy loads at high speeds, and this attribute makes them very stable and fuel efficient.

The Radoncraft hull was designed in the 1990's as a classic Radon-style with additional features for the sport market, including recessed walkaround side decks and larger interior cabin. Other quality features added by Anderson Custom Boats include under-gunwale storage cubbies, extended capacity fuel tanks, aft raised engine compartment, and diesel I/O engine package. Anderson Custom Boats completed construction of this 26.5 x 8.5 Custom at the Anderson yard in Goleta, California in 2007. The boat was first launched and sea trailed outside the Santa Barbara Harbor. With a commercial hull design and sport deck layout, she is very stable, comfortable, and fuel efficient.

Accommodations: Overnight accommodations are provided for three people in three single berths. Interior layout includes two forward side-by-side bunks, starboard enclosed head, and port quarter berth aft. Head features include toilet, fabric head liner, access to helm wiring, 12-volt lighting, and lockable privacy door. Other interior features include vinyl covered cushions, three under-berth stowage compartments, two forward windows, two side opening ports, sunlight/escape hatch, fabric headliner, fabric wall covering, wash-down sole, companionway step with storage compartment, 12-volt lighting, and tinted Plexiglas companionway door.

Galley Equipment: None.

Electronic and Navigational Gear: The helm station is equipped with Volvo Penta controls and instrumentation, including Volvo steering wheel, key-start ignition, interlocked alarm, single lever throttle (controls the shift and engine speed), friction brake, trim tab control, and EVC control panel (controls various adjacent components). Volvo Penta gauges include tachometer, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge, and engine hour meter. Electronic and navigational gear includes VHF marine radio and Ritchie compass.

Electrical/Gas/Plumbing: Two Interstate Megatron batteries power the 12-volt electrical system. Other electrical features include 115 amp marine alternator charging system, battery isolator switch, fuses with automatic reset, and running lights.

Water system includes two bilge pumps, pressurized saltwater to head (marine toilet), and 20-gallon holding tank.

Hull and Deck Gear: The hull design is modified vee with hydro-lift strake design, suitable for West Coast sea conditions, and enables the boat to stay on a plane and maintain a high speed in both forward sea and following sea conditions. This is the notable design of choice among commercial fisherman from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. The hull is built of fiberglass, and the decks are fiberglass with non-skid surfacing. Deck layout includes deck at bow, raised foredeck, recessed full walkaround side decks, cockpit helm, raised aft deck over engine compartment with walkaround aisles (port and starboard) to transom. The cockpit is equipped with full instrumentation helm, wrap around windshield, lockable electronics compartment, pedestal captain's seat, pedestal first mate's seat, two stowage compartments behind pedestal seats, 12-volt lighting, and hard top over helm area. Other deck features include rubber rub rail, stainless steel bow eye, stainless steel bow-to-side-deck railing, raised gunwales, six under-gunwale storage cubbies, wash down decks, four scuppers, and six stainless steel deck cleats. Anchor gear includes stainless steel bow roller, stainless steel T-bar tie down, and chain/anchor locker with fiberglass hatch. Fishing gear includes in-deck fish hold. Canvas inventory includes complete boat cover.

Equipment/Engine Details: The trailer package includes a 1992 Pacific three-axle galvanized trailer. Trailer features include hand-crank boat pulley, hand-crank trailer stand, two safety chains, four carpeted bunks, two carpeted boat guides, boarding ladder, spare tire, lights, and brakes. The trailer weighs 1,995 lbs. Combined towing weight of boat and trailer is approximately 7,995 lbs.

Engine Details: The power package includes a 260 HP Volvo Penta D4-260 diesel I/O. The boat and engine are brand new with less than one hour of run time on the water for purposes of sea trial. The boat cruises at 22 knots with the engine at 3,000 RPM and reaches maximum speed of 27 knots with the engine at 3,800 RPM. The boat has a range of about 1,000 miles with variances depending on sea conditions and speed. Volvo Penta´s new 4-cylinder D4-260 is developed from the latest design in modern diesel technology. The engine features include fuel injection, freshwater cooled turbocharger, exhaust riser, seawater strainer, three fuel tanks with total capacity of 205-gallons, Volvo Penta Duoprop outdrive, dual bronze three-blade prop, stainless steel trim tabs, and hydraulic power steering system.

One of the safety features of Radoncraft/Anderson boats is the sealed engine compartment. This one is spotless and nicely organized. Engine compartment features include fiberglass access hatch, forward battery shelves, and mounted accessories around the sides.

Remarks: Outfit this boat with good electronics and safety gear and you will have the ultimate, commercial-quality, superior riding, long range, easily trailerable fisherman. Whether intended for commercial, recreational, or charter use, the boat promises to provide you with years of good service and fun trips to the Channel Islands and beyond!
