Length: 27' Beam: 8' Draft: 4' Weight: 6,850 Pounds Hull: Fiberglass
Here is one great little pocket cruiser/racer or liveaboard in San Diego for under $10K. Catalina makes one of the most popular boats for the Southern California region, and one look at this sporty sailboat, and you'll know why.
For a starter sailboat, this Catalina 27 has tiller steering, allowing you to scull during those tight situations. In addition, the tiller allows for more cockpit space, which in turn means more happy sailors going out for the day. For the racer, this Catalina 27 is very lightweight, since she has a new (20 hours) 8HP Johnson outboard, rather than a bulky, heavyweight inboard engine. If you're considering a liveaboard, where else in San Diego can find rent as low as $350/month...and live on the water! This would be a great opportunity for a college student to have both a pad and a sailboat for recreation all in one. Engine SpecificationsModel: Outboard Power: 8 HP
Hours: 20 Fuel: Gas Fuel Capacity: 5 Gallons
AccommodationsThis is a perfect little pocket cruiser/racer for someone looking to get into sailing, racing, or an inexpesive liveaboard. The roomy cockpit has tiller steering, allowing the sailor to scull during tight situations or room for all your friends. This Catalina 27 sleeps six adults: 2 in the forward v-berth, 2 in the convertable dining settee, and 2 in the port and stbd aft quarter berths. There is a full galley, complete with a 2-burner alcohol stove, ice box w/ Norcold cold plates, and a single S/S sink w/ pressure water. There is also an onboard marine head w/ holding tank.
GalleyThe galley on this Catalina 27 is simple, but perfect for the daysailor or liveaboard alike. There are nice storage areas for utensils and a roomy little countertop for food prep and/or additional appliances.
ElectricalThis Catalina 27 is equiped for both shore power and battery bank useage. The shore power cord is included, and the Trojan batteries (2) are about two years old and still under warantee. The owner claims he has enough battery power to run for two days.
