MAGIC is hull #2 of David Walter's masterpiece Cambria line. In Ferenc Mate's book "The Worlds Best Sailboats" (1988) he comments "When you have a boat built by David Walters, you will be delivered a yacht of excellent design, engineering and - dare I say it - good taste. His boats may not be inexpensive, but then the Cambria quality is among the world's best."
Magic has been a racer and a cruiser, but is definitely 'low mileage' as there are less than 1200 hours on the original Perkins engine. She has spent her life in Massachusetts and Long Island Sound, and lies in Stamford. She has spent most of her winters (and at least 4 summers) in indoor storage. There is a huge sail inventory for both racing and cruising, most of which have been lightly used. She is fully equipped for extended coastal or off shore sailing. Of note is her high performance keel, designed by naval architect Eric Sponberg and installed in 1994. Mr Sponberg did much of the naval architecture on the Cambria when they were built. His design had the original deep fin keel trimmed down and an equal amount of lead forged to from a "beavertail" bulb. The result was a one foot reduction of draft, as well as improved performance. Drawings and other details of Mr. Sponberg's design are available. Engine SpecificationsModel: 4.154 Power: 58 HP
